Sobadas & Cupping Therapy
Working the body through intentional touch is one of the most ancient forms of medicine.
My sobada practice is rooted in traditional Mesoamerican and Andean principles, my spirituality, and midwifery care. Working with the abdomen and body in this way draws on a centuries-old universal language, and helps us to better understand the whole person.
I deeply believe in the power and effectiveness of skilled bodywork to relieve pain and tension, as well as harmonize the physical, energetic, and spiritual bodies. These practices were learned and cultivated long-term through apprenticeships, trainings, and my current midwifery program.

Sobada is a traditional bodywork practice and healing modality that has similar elements to deep tissue massage and energy work. It is most connected to the regions of Mesoamerica and the Andes. The practice of sobada also has a direct connection to the organ system, especially those housed in the abdomen. Sobada works with the physical, spiritual, and emotional dimensions of the organs, helping improve both their physical and spiritual alignment. Each session ends with the practitioner sharing a general assessment about what was observed from the body. Generally, this practice helps regulate the nervous system, relieve pain, clear and move stagnant energy, and help bring organs back into place. It can also boost fertility, improve menstrual symptoms, support digestion, aid postpartum recovery, soften scar tissue, and revitalize the solar plexus center.
Sobada sessions are focused on the client’s overall alignment, organ health, and energetic wellness. This practice can help a person feel more connected to themselves, as well as support the body in remembering what it needs. All sessions include an opening and closing plática to explore what is coming up in the body, mind, and spirit.

Abdominal & Womb Sobada
The abdominal sobada is my most recommended service, and the most essential part of my traditional bodywork practice. As the abdomen houses the majority of the body’s organs, this practice provides deep insight into a person's overall wellbeing and organ health. Generally, this practice can help regulate the nervous system, relieve pain, clear and move stagnant energy, and help bring the organs back into place. It can also improve menstrual symptoms, support digestion, aid postpartum recovery, soften scar tissue, and revitalize the solar plexus.
This hour-long session is done on a comfortable floor set-up with the client fully clothed and just the abdomen exposed. This offering is for all people, including women, children, and men. I provide gentle abdominal sobada care for children starting at 12 years of age.
The abdominal sobada can be especially helpful for postpartum women, as it supports the abdomen regain its center and coax the organs back into place. It is most appropriate starting 6-8 weeks after giving birth. Currently, I do not offer abdominal sobadas for pregnant women.

Full-Body Sobada
The full-body sobada is a 2-hour session that begins with the base of my sobada practice, the abdominal sobada. After working on the abdomen, we’ll shift our focus to the uterus, and the cuerdas (similar to meridians) in the legs and feet that connect to it. For women, these cuerdas bring vitality and life force back to the womb space, may boost fertility, ease menstrual symptoms, and bring on a delayed period. For men, these cuerdas bring greater vitality and life force to their sacral center.
We’ll work with each area of the body during the session, using traditional massage techniques and rebozo therapy where needed. The full-body sobada holds all of the same benefits as the abdominal sobada and more, as it provides much deeper and extended care to the entire body, and detailed focus on the uterus. The full-body sobada creates greater harmony between all energetic centers of the body.

Prenatal or Postpartum Sobada
Prenatal bodywork is specifically tailored to the needs of pregnant mothers, helping to relieve common aches and pains as the body transforms throughout pregnancy, especially in the back, hips, feet, neck, and shoulders.
Postpartum bodywork is tailored to support a new mother’s physical and spiritual recovery after childbirth. This gentle treatment can help increase flow, warmth, relaxation, and harmony in the body as it heals.
As with all bodywork and sobada offerings, each session will begin and end with a plática to address what's present in the body, mind, and spirit. These intuitive sessions are tailored to each client and what's showing up in their body moment-to-moment.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping is a traditional therapy where heated glass cups or suction cups are applied to the back of the body in order to increase circulation, release deeply held tension, and ease pain.
As a stand-alone offering, the session will begin with a 20-30 minute back massage to aid muscle and fascia release. Cups are then applied and will sit for 10-20 minutes. After the cups are removed, each spot is gently scraped with a gua sha tool to support recovery. A stand-alone session lasts 45 minutes. Cupping can also be added to any sobada session for an extra $25.
Stand-alone: $75 | Add-On Service: $25
Client Testimonials
“I struggled with pelvic pain for many years and after one sobada session with Binti, the pain was 95% improved. Binti is very knowledgeable and she brings a warm and grounded energy to her work, which made me feel safe and relaxed throughout. The sobada technique allowed release of not only the physical pain I had, but also deeply-held emotional energy. She answered my many questions and I left the session with a lot more knowledge about my body, about women’s health, and a deep respect for this indigenous healing practice. I highly recommend working with Binti.”
